Description
The EVO 9 GW alpine ski binding for junior or light skier is manufactured under the HEAD/Tyrolia brand.
It is a piste binding designed to offer an excellent level of safety and performance to young skiers and light adult skiers who do not require a high DIN range.
Name Decryption
EVO: Name of the series or chassis of the binding, often associated with models with an integrated plate or intended for junior racing.
-
9: Represents the maximum DIN value of the binding.
DIN Range: Generally from 2 to 9 (or 2.5 to 9.0). This range is perfect for advanced children, teenagers, and very light or beginner adults (not suitable for heavy adults or expert skiers).
-
GW: Stands for GripWalk.
Compatibility: This binding is compatible not only with standard alpine soles (ISO 5355), but also with GripWalk soles (adult and junior) which are more common on modern boots to facilitate walking.
CA (often included): Often indicates a Junior/Child type binding.
Features
| Feature | Detail |
| DIN | 2.0 – 9.0 |
| Weight | Approximately 1500 g per pair |
| Height | Approximately 21 mm (for better power transfer and a more direct ski feel) |
| Toe | SX Lite Toe with TRP System (Tyrolia Roller Pincer System). Uses four rollers to allow 180° release (vertical and diagonal) and precise recentering of the boot, reducing the load on the ligaments. |
| Heel | SX Lite Heel |
| Safety | Full Diagonal Release for the toe, offering an intelligent 180° release for maximum safety, especially during twisting falls. |
Target Audience
Junior Race Skiers: It is often used on junior race skis for performance and safety.
Light Beginner/Intermediate Skiers: It is perfect for those with a moderate skiing level and a body weight that matches the DIN range (up to approximately 85-90 kg depending on skill level).
This is a reliable and fast binding, often sold in a package with junior or intermediate HEAD skis.
