Description
The Tyrolia Attack Hybrid 14 model is one of the latest and most innovative bindings on the market. It belongs to the category of Freeride/Touring hybrid bindings.
It is specifically designed for skiers who want the performance and safety of an alpine binding for the descent, but with the ability to perform efficient ascents in touring mode.
1. Hybrid Concept (Interchangeability)
The key mechanism of the Attack Hybrid is its interchangeable toe piece:
Downhill Mode: You use an Alpine FR PRO 3 toe piece that clicks in like a classic alpine binding. This guarantees you the same level of safety, elasticity, and performance on the descent as the famous Attack 14.
Uphill/Touring Mode: You remove the Alpine toe piece (easily and tool-free, thanks to a "demo" type rail) and replace it with a very light pins (Tech/Pin) toe piece. This pin toe piece is essential for efficient walking during ski touring.
2. Performance Features
| Feature | Detail |
| DIN Range | 4.0 – 14.0. Solid and reliable, suitable for advanced to expert skiers who ski aggressively, whether on-piste or off-piste. |
| Weight | Hybrid. The total weight is split: approximately 880g per ski in touring mode (Tech Toe) and 1125g per ski in downhill mode (Alpine Toe), which is competitive for a hybrid binding. |
| Compatibility | MN/PT (Multi-Norm / Pin Technology). It is compatible with almost all boot soles: Alpine (ISO 5355), GripWalk (ISO 23223), and Touring (ISO 9523) Tech. |
| Heel Piece | It uses a heel piece based on the Attack series (NX FR), but with a brake locking mechanism for the ascent and a single climbing aid (generally 9°). |
In Summary
The Attack Hybrid 14 is aimed at the high-performance Freerider who goes ski touring (uphill) to access off-piste lines, but who wants absolutely no compromise on the control and safety of their alpine binding during the descent. You get the performance of an Attack on the descent, and the efficiency of a pin binding on the ascent, in exchange for having to carry the unused toe piece in your backpack.
