Description
The "Race Xcomp 16" is a very high-performance alpine ski binding designed by Marker. It is an emblematic model in the racing line, aimed at expert skiers, amateur competitors, and ambitious piste skiers who demand precision and safety at high speeds.
Features
| Feature | Detail | Role |
| DIN Range / Z Value | 6.0 – 16.0 | Very high range, intended for powerful, heavy (over 60 kg) and very aggressive skiers who ski at extreme speeds. |
| Category | Race / High Performance Piste | Designed for precision on groomed snow and extreme edge angles. |
| Toe Piece | Xcomp Toe (or Comp Toe) | One-piece toe, with magnesium components for maximum rigidity and direct force transmission. |
| Damping | Xcomp Damping Technology | The toe piece integrates shock absorbers that absorb quick shocks and keep the boot perfectly centered, reducing the risk of premature release due to vibrations (crucial at high speed). |
| Heel Piece | TCX (or Comp TCX) | Rigid heel piece with a race drilling pattern for optimal power transmission and improved ski feel. |
| Stand Height without ski | Approx. 18 mm | Very low height for maximum connection and a direct terrain feel. |
Xcomp Technology (or Comp)
The design of the Xcomp series (now replaced by the Comp series) is directly inspired by Marker's World Cup bindings. The focus is on two main aspects:
Power and Precision: The three-point mounting of the toe piece and rigid components ensure that energy is transferred immediately from the skier to the ski without loss or play.
Safety and Control: Improved damping (Xcomp Damping) is the hallmark. It filters high-frequency vibrations (the chatter of hard snow) while keeping the boot firmly in place so that release only occurs when the DIN safety limit is actually reached.
Boot Compatibility
Alpine Standard (ISO 5355): This is the standard binding for traditional alpine boot soles.
GripWalk (GW): The most recent versions of the Comp 16 come in a GW (GripWalk) version, making them compatible with modern GripWalk soles. It is important to check if the precise model you are looking at includes this certification.
In summary, the Marker Race Xcomp 16 is an uncompromising binding for fast piste skiing. It offers exceptional reliability and control for skiers who push their skis and bindings to their limits.
