Description
The Fritschi Tecton 10 is the sister of the Tecton 13, and it belongs to the same category of hybrid ski touring bindings (also called freetouring or freeride touring).
It shares the same cutting-edge design focused on downhill performance and safety, but targets a slightly different audience of skiers.
The fundamental difference between the Tecton 10 and the Tecton 13 lies in the release value (Z value).
| Feature | Tecton 10 | Tecton 13 |
| DIN Range / Z Value | 5.0 – 10.0 | 6.0 – 13.0 |
| Weight (without ski stopper) | Approximately 550 g (identical) | Approximately 550 g (identical) |
| Target Audience | Intermediate to advanced skiers or lightweight skiers and/or those who ski with a low DIN. | Advanced to expert skiers or heavy/aggressive skiers who require a high DIN. |
Shared Technologies (Identical to the Tecton 13)
The Tecton 10 benefits from all the innovations that have made the Tecton line famous:
Toe Piece with Adjustable Lateral Release (DIN): This is the key safety point. As on an alpine binding, the lateral release occurs at the toe, with 13 mm of elasticity. This offers superior safety and retention compared to traditional insert bindings.
Fixed Alpine Heel Piece: The heel piece is rigid and non-rotating, clamping the boot and using "Power Rails" for an ultra-solid connection with the heel. This guarantees direct and efficient power transmission downhill, comparable to an alpine binding.
Safety while Climbing: The system allows for an emergency release of the toe piece even in climbing mode, a rare safety feature in insert bindings.
Touring Features: The weight is very light for a hybrid (~550 g without ski stopper), switching from climb mode to ski mode is easy, and it has climbing aids (often 0°, 7°, and 12°).
Who is the Tecton 10 for?
The Tecton 10 is the perfect choice for:
Intermediate/advanced skiers: Who do not ski extremely aggressively and whose traditional DIN setting is 10 or less.
Lighter skiers: Women, juniors, or featherweight men who need a lower Z value range to meet safety standards.
It offers all the safety and downhill performance advantages of the Tecton 13, but in a more accessible Z value range. Furthermore, it is often less expensive than the Tecton 13.
