Description
The Salomon RS8 is the ideal missing link between the RS7 (beginner) and the RS10 (performance). It is a skating ski designed for regular skiers who want a lighter and faster ski than the entry-level model, without moving to a more demanding carbon core.
RS8 Description
-
Densolite 3000 Core: Lighter and more reactive than the 2000 (from the RS7). It is made of a pre-formed Densolite foam and a fiberglass wrap, offering consistent and efficient response.
-
G4 Base: A high-performance base, a step above the RS7. It absorbs wax better and offers significantly superior glide, close to competition models.
-
29 Skating Camber: The same profile as on higher-end models, optimizing power transmission and stability during push-off.
-
Tolerance and Stability: Although fast, it remains easier to ski than the RS10 because it is slightly less rigid, which helps maintain good control when fatigue sets in.
Size and Weight Chart (RS8)
In skating, weight is the determining factor for the ski to work correctly under your foot.
| Ski Length | Recommended Weight (kg) |
| 174 cm | 40 – 55 kg |
| 179 cm | 50 – 65 kg |
| 186 cm | 60 – 75 kg |
|
191 cm extra stiff |
70 – 90 kg 90-110 kg |
Quick Comparison: RS7 vs RS8 vs RS10
| Model | Level | Core | Base | Character |
| RS7 | Beginner | Densolite 2000 | G2 | Stable and robust |
| RS8 | Intermediate | Densolite 3000 | G4 | Versatile and fast |
| RS10 | Advanced | D-Carbon | G5 | Responsive and ultra-light |
Pro's tip: The RS8 is often the "favorite" of those who cross-country ski once a week. It offers professional glide sensations without being too technical to handle.
