Description
The Head Worldcup Rebels e. XSR (often simply called e. XSR) is a very popular alpine ski that is part of Head's Race Inspired range. It is aimed at skiers who want the performance of a race ski, but in a more accessible and easier to ski package for everyday use.
1. Skier Profile and Use
Level: Advanced Intermediate to Expert.
Terrain: Exclusively Piste/Carving (groomed and hard snow).
Objective: Offer the feel of a race ski (grip and precision) without the stiffness and physical demands of metal competition skis. It's an excellent choice for aspiring racers or those who want a performance piste ski for all-day use.
2. Key Technologies
EMC (Energy Management Circuit): This is the "e." in the name. It is a patented Head technology where piezoelectric plates are integrated into the front of the ski. They actively reduce vibrations and unpleasant chatter noises at high speed, ensuring a smoother glide and improved stability.
Metal-Free Construction: Unlike the Pro or Race models in the Rebels range which contain Titanal, the e. XSR has a full wood core (Full Woodcore) without metal construction. This makes it more forgiving, lighter and much easier to handle at low speed, while maintaining good dynamism.
Rebel Camber: The ski uses a full camber profile that maximizes the effective edge length in contact with the snow. This guarantees exceptional grip and direct power transmission.
3. Geometry and Turn Radius
The e. XSR has a sidecut focused on carving:
| Feature | Value (for a length of ≈170 cm) | Implication |
| Sidecut | approx 125 / 72 / 109 mm | |
| Waist Width | 72mm | A very narrow width, typical of carving skis. This ensures ultra-fast edge-to-edge transition and maximum grip on hard snow. |
| Turn Radius | approx 14.1m for 170 cm. | This is a short radius which favors short, sharp turns (Slalom type). The ski is designed to be quickly oriented into the fall line and carve aggressive turns. |
4. Bindings
The e. XSR usually comes with the PR 11 GW binding, which is light, reliable and compatible with standard alpine and GripWalk (GW) boot soles.
In summary, the Head Worldcup Rebels e. XSR is a fun, precise, and very stable ski on groomed snow. It is the ideal ski for the advanced intermediate skier who loves to carve and wants to enjoy the feeling of a competition ski, without the extreme physical demand.
