Description
The Head Crux 93 is part of a brand new range from Head, specifically designed for ski touring (Touring/Freerando), focusing on lightness without sacrificing downhill performance.
The Crux 93 is a versatile touring/freerando ski that aims to bridge the gap between a very light ski for climbing and a ski that performs well enough for a good descent, even in difficult snow.
| Feature | Specification |
| Program | All-Mountain Ski Touring (Touring) / Freerando |
| Level | Confirmed to Expert |
| Weight (ref. 177 cm) | Approx. 1280 g (ski alone, without binding) |
| Construction | Sandwich Cap - Triaxial Carbon, Lightweight Karuba Wood Core + Graphene |
| Technology | LYT Tech (for lightness) and Topless Tech (anti-snow coating instead of a traditional topsheet) |
| Waist Width | 93 mm (Excellent compromise climbing/descent/float) |
| Rocker | Tip-Tail Rocker (Rocker at the tip and tail) to facilitate pivot and float in powder. |
Turning Radius (Radius of Curvature)
The turning radius is long, which is typical of skis designed for stability and high speed, even if used for touring. This allows for curve variation and aggressive downhill skiing.
The radius varies depending on the size:
| Ski Size | Sidecut (mm) | Turning Radius (m) |
| 163 cm | 130 / 93 / 113 | 15.0 m |
| 170 cm | 130 / 93 / 113 | 16.7 m |
| 177 cm | 130 / 93 / 113 | 18.6 m |
| 184 cm | 130 / 93 / 113 | 20.4 m |
Key Strengths
Impressive Lightness: At only 1280 g per ski in 177 cm, it is remarkably light for its 93 mm width, making ascents much more efficient.
Downhill Stability: The Triaxial Carbon reinforcement and Graphene ensure excellent torsional rigidity and very good stability for such a light ski, even at high speed on hard or chopped snow.
Long Radius ($18.6 \text{ m}$): This radius favors long turns and high-speed performance, giving an alpine skiing sensation on the descent despite its featherweight.
The Head Crux 93 is an excellent choice if you are looking for a touring ski that clearly prioritizes downhill quality without the climb becoming torture.
