Description
The Head Crux 105 Pro is the widest model, most focused on Freeride/Powder, in Head's new series of ultra-light touring skis.
It is designed for advanced to expert skiers who undertake long ascents but absolutely do not want to sacrifice performance and stability on the descent, even in deep snow.
The Crux 105 Pro offers an excellent weight-to-width compromise in the Fat Touring category. It aims for downhill performance worthy of a traditional Freeride ski, while being remarkably light.
| Feature | Specification |
| Program | Freerando (Freeride Touring Ski) |
| Level | Advanced / Expert |
| Weight (ref. 177 cm) | Approximately 1315 g (single ski, without binding) |
| Construction | Full Triaxial Carbon Jacket, Sandwich Cap, Light Karuba Core + Graphene |
| Key Technologies | Topless Tech (absence of a classic topsheet to save weight), Tail Notch (notch for skins) |
| Waist Width | 105 mm (Ideal waist for flotation in powder) |
| Rocker | Tip-Tail Rocker (Tip Rocker 30%, Camber 50%, Tail Rocker 20%) |
Turning Radius (Radius of Curvature)
The turning radius is very long, confirming the ski's orientation towards high-speed stability and large turns in open snow.
The radius increases with length:
| Ski Size | Sidecut (mm) | Turning Radius (m) |
| 170 cm | 133 / 105 / 122 | 20.9 m |
| 177 cm | 133 / 105 / 122 | 23.2 m |
| 184 cm | 133 / 105 / 122 | 25.6 m |
Radius Interpretation
With a radius of 23.2 m (for the 177 cm, the Crux 105 Pro is designed for:
Aggressive Descent: This long radius is the hallmark of Freeride skis that demand and allow hard pushing, offering excellent directional stability in open couloirs and at high speed.
Freeride Control: The radius is long enough to avoid involuntary oversteering in deep or tracked snow, ensuring fluid lines.
Weight/Power Compromise: This is the most impressive feature: a ski under 1400 g in 177 cm offering the turning radius of a much heavier downhill ski, thanks to the integration of Graphene and Carbon.
In short, the Head Crux 105 Pro is a pure "Freeride Touring" ski, intended for skiers who prioritize powder descent and big days in the mountains, without weight being a burden on the climb.
